Tip of the day: Disable your antivirus if you are doing mobile backups

Posted on Jun 4, 2013

We learned the hard way, if you are doing the backups of your mobile devices, runing on iOS, Android or Windows, make sure you disable all the antivirus software.

What happens is the antivirus software might find an infect file in your backup, and though it probably not going to hurt your phone match, antivirus will try to remove it.

By doing so it will disrupt the backup file and the restore will fail.

So do yourself a favor and disable the antivirus if you are doing backups.

If you can’t disable an antivirus software on your machine, atleast encrypt your backup so it is not readable by other programs.

Also as a bonus tip: Don’t forget to shutdown all the Virtual Machines, as they might interfere with the USB device connections.
